So glad to hear from you, Elsa. Your brother Alex
I remember well as one of the nicest and most intelligent and mature of my
Nicaraguan friends. Whenever I do a Google search for old acquaintances, his is
one of the first names I enter. I don't know if he will remember me, but as
we've been noting in these emails, we all recall different things. Alex was
elected president of the senior class and I came in second, as one thing that
stands out in my memory. I always knew I lost to the better man. I hope you will
let him know about our reminiscences and see if we can hear from him. I make a
great guacamole, so maybe I've used some of his avocados.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Some of us are lucky enough to have long, successful
relationships, and I know you are grateful for that despite the sudden loss of
John.
