Just to keep the ball rolling, here are some more flashbacks that have popped
into my head after I opened up the Nicaragua section of my memory bank...
Luis Sacayo (?) lived down the street for us in kilocho. He hosted a
party one time, Tootsie, and we did the twist and you told me I was a good
twister. Not sure why I remember that... probably because I didn't get many
compliments on my dancing! Another guy I thought of was Daniel and his
girlfriend Laura... they were a beautiful couple, but I can't remember last
names. Do you know who I'm talking about? I think Daniel went to military school
somewhere.
I remebered our coaches names... Mr. Johnson (baseball) and Russell Shubert
(basketball). Shubert was going with the lady who ran the snack bar at the
school (Cecilia), when we left.
I also remember Joe Frizer, the big, brash New York kid who was only there a few
months after we arrived (10th grade). Rumors were that his sudden exit was
because he had gotten his underage Nicaraguan girlfriend pregnant, followed
by a hasty shotgun wedding and a one-way ticket back to NYC.
And Mike Green, who "borrowed" his Dad's military jeep while Sgt. Green was out
of the country, and wrecked it on the way to see Nadene. I've always wondered
how he lived to see another day after his Dad got home.
I think our English teacher was Mrs. Rozinsky and biolgy Mrs. Rothchuh (spelling?)
Some of us blew up her chemistry lab one day out of boredom.
Well, as you can see, I'm still in the stream of consciousness phase.
